Resident Attendants require PSW course or equivalent .
Non-clinical/Support Staff require a minimum of GED.
All positions follow NBNU and CUPE collective agreements.
Required for all positions:
- Rotating shifts and weekends
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector
- Social Development Check
- Physical Fitness form from primary health care provide (NP or GP)
- CPR and First Aid (clinical only) or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire

The primary role of the Seniors Navigator is to provide access to support services and social health activities for seniors within the District of Carleton North. They will also assist with the establishment and to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Home Without Walls (NHWW) for River View Manor.
Seniors Navigator will be:
- Client Focused: Maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients to gain their trust and respect.
- Trustworthy and show integrity: Direct and truthful in a helpful manner; admit mistakes; follow policies and procedures as set forth by River View Manor, and RVM NHWW; Conduct self-according to River View Manor’s Code of Conduct and Values.

- Experienced in dealing with Ambiguity: Effectively cope with change, risk, and uncertainty.
- Strong with Peer Relationships: Encourage collaboration while focusing on problem solving and building consensus within a team.
- Collaborator: Intersectoral collaboration will be essential for the success of the NHWW program. The Navigator will work alongside municipal, provincial and community groups to co-ordinate care for seniors within the District of Carleton North.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree, or college diploma in a health-related field.
- Ability to oversee a team and to deal effectively with people in a tactful, informative manner.
- Adaptability and flexibility in coping with changing needs, terms, and conditions.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and effectively carry out both oral and written instructions in completing work assignments under a minimum of direction and supervision.
- Team player – ability to work well with others and function as a team member.
- Good previous work and attendance record.
- Computer skills.
- Neat and clean in appearance.
- Physically able to perform all assigned duties.
- Must provide a Criminal Record check.
- Must pass Department of Social Development Record Check.
- Must pass pre-employment medical.
REGULAR DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the NHWW and staff.
- Oversee the development and adaptation of all NHWW policies and procedures as well as the adaptation and creation of any required forms.
- Creation of programs and services to be offered.
- Collaboration and partnerships with other organizations within the District of Carleton North.
- Organize focus groups with stakeholders to learn more about needed programs and services for the community.
- Establishment of a Seniors Community Resources directory for the District of Carleton North.
- Provide education opportunities and personal care to the clients.
- Maintain required documentation of the program and update appropriate government officials when necessary.
- Organize and share information about the program with River View Manor and stakeholders
- Assist with the marketing of the program.
- Update the supervisor on a regular basis.
- Proper regard for confidential information.
- Any miscellaneous tasks requested by the supervisor.
This is a temporary position that will be in place until November of 2024. FTE is up to 1.0 FTE. Rate of pay will be an all-inclusive rate based on the applicants’ qualifications. The all-inclusive rate of pay will cover vacation, sick time and stat holiday. Due to the temporary nature of the position, there are no pension or health care benefits available. With the successful implementation of NHWW programming will move past the pilot stage and into a permanent community program. Therefore, this position will be posted as a temporary position with the possibility of extension and subsequently permanent employment.
